People seriously lined up in front of the gate to the farm at 7am.
Because of the wacky weather (and over-anxious pickers), their yield was low this year and we only managed a pound and a half of blackberries. I am grateful, though, because we at least got some and our daughter has been asking to 'pick bewwies' since we tried to go blueberry picking in April.
After she devoured at least a cup's worth of berries, I...dun da da daaah....made a pie!
For real, folks.
I got impatient with the crust and wanted to hurry and get the darn thing in the oven so we could enjoy it after our dinner, so it kind of got all wonky while it was baking and pulled apart a bit in some places.
Tastes the same, though!
We are lame Independence Day people and just grilled our dinner and ate our pie and went to bed. Well, everyone else is in bed. I'm still awake blogging. But I'll be there soon.
Happy Independence Day! I hope everyone (americans, anyway) had a grand time celebrating the freedom which was hard won and which we continue to fight for daily.
Mommy Life has an interesting post describing the sacrifices the signers of the Declaration of Independence made in order to secure the freedom of future generations.
God is good. In all things.
