Outside my window...dark and it has been dark for a while. The kiddos took longer to fall asleep tonight than usual. Warm, sunshiny day today and more in the forecast. Last year it was so so cold for so so long, I'm grateful for the warmth and milder temperatures this year.
I am thinking...how much more difficult it seems to be to make friends than when I was a little girl.
I am thankful for...hot tea.
From the learning rooms...reading, Scripture memorization, and nature study are pretty much the only things in my plans this week. We have birthday presents to make. :)
From the kitchen...fresh bread, thick and creamy yogurt, sweet and sour chicken in the crockpot, roasted red pepper soup, pancakes and baked apples.....it's going to be a tasty week!
I am wearing...a button-up purple pinstripe shirt with ruffles along the placket, green cable knit cardigan, and a denim skirt I made out of a pair of jeans too small for David and the legs of a pair of jeans too big for my brother.
I am creating...birthday presents, Valentine's Day cards, finally finishing up a lap quilt for the living room I started over a year ago...
I am going...to the car repair shop. Again. I went in for a routine oil change and tire rotation last Wednesday and they came out with a list of fourteen different things that needed to be done. Sheesh. One of the things they didn't have the part for, so I scheduled to come back to fix that thing this week. Something to do with gaskets and valves and oil. I don't know.
I am reading...One Thousand Gifts (came last week and I've been savoring it) and My Name is Memory, though I'm almost done with the latter.
I am hoping...our taxes are done soon.
I am hearing...my bones crack as I stretch.
Around the house...it's quiet, tidied, cozy, happy.
One of my favorite things...Isabel's Valentine's Day decorations. Last week we experimented with REAL (that's important!) watercolors, what happens when we use only a little bit of water and what happens when we use more water. After painting a couple pages using reds and yellows and oranges and white (to make pink, of course) we traced a heart cookie cutter to cover the pages with little hearts, cut them out, glued them to red thread, and hung them from our dining room ceiling fan. It's pretty and Isabel is proud. :)
A few plans for the rest of the week: preparing for Grampa's birthday on Sunday and mine on Tuesday, going outside lots, gardening, and that. is. it. I'm looking forward to a low-key week.
Here is picture for thought I am sharing...
