The Seventh Daybook

Outside my window...sunset! I love love love the in-between time of twilight and dusk, both sunrise and sunset. I love the purpley gray and the aqua and yellowing turquoise. Gorgeous. Especially in these winter(ish) months when it's clear and crisp and cool.

I am thinking...of newly engaged and soon-to-be married and newly pregnant and recently born. So much newness and excitement of anticipation and glow-y sweetness!

I am thankful for...a morning of sewing and an afternoon of grocery shopping. Alone. Oh bliss for this introvert and solitude-seeker.

From the learning rooms...we will be continuing our reading and phonics practice (adding new Bob books to our reading!) and more nature study and gardening. Our peach tree has the beginning fuzzies of new peaches and our blueberry bush is popping out new berries! We're praying they survive the birds. :) We also will be adding Lenten studies to our learning this week and some St. Patrick's Day activities. Also, a trip to the library is in order.

From the kitchen...we had freshly baked bread and pancakes with home-canned peach preserves. For supper was a new recipe: Coconut Flour Mini-Pizzas. Yum! Though a little greasy for my taste...next time I'll try baking instead. Green smoothies, egg salad, oatmeal, spaghetti, gluten-free cinnamon buns, homegrown salad, garden vegetable soup, and homemade macaroni cheese are some of the features of our menu this week.

I am wearing...a denim skirt, white t-shirt, and green zip-up hoodie with friend-made pearl and gold earrings. Simple day, simple clothes.

I am creating...my daughter's Easter dress. I just traced and cut out the pattern and hopefully tonight I can get it pinned onto the fabric and cut. Should be an easy dress, but pretty. I hope! :) Tomorrow should bring the fabric I ordered from fabric.com's $5 and under sale, which will include the fabric for my dress. I had ordered a very pretty print voile but after I placed the order they said they didn't have enough material. Bummer. So I took it off the order and will make do with another bundle of fabric in the order.

I am going...to the store tonight, for the last leg of my grocery shopping. Four stores, one farm, and one egg lady...shopping can get a little spread out.

I am reading...the same book I was reading last week. I need to hurry up because it's due this week! It's really good, I just haven't had as much time to read lately as I'd like.

I am hoping...to see a friend this Thursday and her little ones.

I am hearing...David and Isabel washing the dinner dishes and Hugh Kelly singing to himself. I love any time I don't have to wash the dishes! :)

Around the house...spring cleaning starts this week! I try to take a room a week and focus on deep cleaning. Usually I start with the master bedroom and work my way around the house (split-plan home) but I'm thinking this year I might start from the kitchen or the kids' bedroom and work my way from there. Always, always the sewing room is last. Because I never get to it.

One of my favorite things...is my son singing to himself. He's just running in circles singing, "Up and down! Up and down!" then he'll mumble something unintelligible, then "In my heart! In my heart!" grinning ear to ear and waving his arms around. So happy! So adorable!

A few plans for the rest of the week: spring cleaning and Lenten devotionals! More yellow! And some spring green in there. Sewing sewing sewing!

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...March came in like a lion last week, so we made lions! The kids painted white construction paper orange and then glued yellow paper for the face. Then eyes and noses were glued down and a mouth was drawn. One was done with much grown-up help, the other with hardly any help at all!
